WOOD AND GLASS SIGNS.
Sandblasted signs are made in a variety of materials.
Typically sandblasting is done in redwood, cedar or some other wood with
distinctive and attractive grain. Sandblasting results in signs with three
dimensional character and the natural beauty of the wood grain, When combined
with painting, airbrushing and gilding, these long lived signs give years
of beauty and public exposure.
Other types of materials are also used in sandblasting. These include
high density polyurethane foam, glass, and acrylic plastics.
Handcarved wooden signs are still made the old fashioned way with knives
and chisels. Below is a hand carved sign in basswood.
Shown below are etched glass windows in a trolley restoration project.
